These pictures, all dating from between 2000 and 2003, form part of a series of fourteen
images of English cities. Although completely fictitious - they were drawn to accompany
a short story of mine involving a treasure hunt across the length and breadth of
England - they do contain all the familiar elements we know and love in our cathedral
cities: manicured lawns, rows of Georgian townhouses, war memorials, breweries, riverside
walks, even crass redevelopment and flyovers.
In each picture is hidden a VW Volkswagen, the much-loved car I had when I was drawing
